Dynamic Defense

Selecting Your First Policy

When logging into the Dynamic Defense portal for the first time, you will be prompted to select a connection, if you have more than one, and set up your first policy. You will also have the opportunity to give your connection a nickname if needed. You can always change or create a nickname at a later time. Nickname a Connection

During the onboarding guide, you will be presented with the option to choose a policy. You also can skip the selection and jump straight into the portal. If you do skip the onboarding guide, you can always apply an AT&T created policy at a later time. However, we strongly advise that you select one of the two options for your first policy to get you started.

Quick Start

Quick Start provides protection from threats AT&T experts have curated for you, prioritizing network traffic over deep policy creation and customization. Quick Start is a great policy for an individual who does not have a lot of experience in building policies to protect their network.

Once you select Quick Start, you will be prompted to apply policy, edit policy, or return to policy selection.

  • Apply policy will automatically apply the Quick Start policy for you, then take you to the Dynamic Defense landing page.
  • Edit policy will take you to the policy tab of Dynamic Defense so you can make necessary edits. You will then need to select "Apply Draft" in the top right when you are ready to apply your policy. You can return to the initial policy selection page by clicking “return to policy selection” at the top right or deleting your current draft.
  • Return to policy selection will take you back to the initial policy selection page where you can choose from Quick Start, Smart Protection, or Custom Protection.

Smart Protection

Smart Protection generates a custom policy after 7 days of personalized traffic analysis, filtering out what you don’t use. You can adjust this policy to meet the changing needs of your business. During the 7 days, your network will be protected with AT&T’s threat intel which blocks IP address that are deemed malicious, but you will not be able to make any policy changes until after the 7 days. Smart Protection is useful for an individual with any skill level in building security policies.

Once the policy is ready, an email will be sent to the user who initiated the Smart Protection policy. Upon logging in after the 7 days any user can either activate the policy or review the policy and make any needed changes.
